Men known as Ukukus return down from the holy glaciers at an altitude of approaching 6000m to the valley of Sinakara after a night of preforming initiation rites. They used to carry down holy blocks of ice with which to cleanse the world but due to global warming and the glaciers retreating this is now forbidden so they carry crosses instead.
