High in the Peruvian Andes, pilgrims return down from the holy glaciers to the valley of Sinakara after a night of performing initiation rites. They used to carry down holy blocks of ice with which to cleanse the world but due to global warming and the glaciers retreating this is now forbidden so they carry crosses instead.
